My (Belated) Holiday Wish List

After seeing so many great wish lists online (like this one and this one) I got inspired to make my own. Top row (l-r): The Selby Is in Your Place, poster by The Small Stakes, handknit mittens by finnishweaver. Center row: Keerstin Wintrup belt from Bona Drag, Friends With You flash drive from Poketo, pillow by enhabiten. Bottom row: watercolor by Friederike Hamann, NoBrow 2, ikat skirt by Opening Ceremony.
Happy holidays!

Paper cut

PaperCut-Nahcotta2
PaperCut-Nahcotta
I just finished this paper cut for a show called "Verbatim" at Nahcotta gallery. Each artist chooses a word and creates a piece that is evocative of that word. I sort of worked backwards to come up with my idea, because I've been interested in lace patterns recently and wanted to create a detailed paper cut where the word was incorporated in a subtle way. The show runs from January 5- January 31.

New Holiday Card + Two Brooklyn Holiday Sales

Just a quick reminder that I will be in two holiday sales this coming weekend (December 12-13). I'll have individual holiday cards for sale, as well as the Mountain poster, 2010 Calendar, Glove prints, and card sets. Shown above is a brand new holiday card, Triangles. I'll be at Lena's sale from 1:00-2:30 or so on Saturday (my work will be there all day). I'll also be at Bruar Falls all day on Sunday, so please say hello if you decide to stop by. Hope to see you there!

Pet Show Final Painting

Here is the final artwork for the pet art show I was in this past weekend. I think this is how my dog Ollie likes to imagine himself.

Make A World: The Film

Did you know that there is a documentary being made about Ed Emberley's Make A World? This was my favorite book growing up and I had the honor of being "Artist of the Day" on the Make a World Film website. Here is a black and white version of the artwork I submitted- you can see a color version here.

Pet Art Show! (In Progress)

I'm working on something for a pet-themed art show at my friend Liz's house on Friday. Every time I get to this stage I'm tempted to stop working on it- I like how it looks this way. If you'll be in Brooklyn on Friday and would like to stop by, please email me (or comment below with your email address) and I'll send you the info!

Save the Date!

I will be participating in Lena Corwin's holiday sale on Saturday, December 12 along with many other talented artists + designers. I will have calendars, prints, and cards for sale- A good place to pick up some holiday gifts. Hope you can stop by!

Pendleton on Etsy

Pendleton wool fabric has been popular recently- possibly because of their collaboration with Opening Ceremony. I wasn't too familiar with the company before, but I'm amazed at how beautiful the fabrics are. I just came across an etsy seller, Timberline Treasures, that makes nice pillows and bags from the fabric. (I ended up buying the pouch above, though I love the pillows too.) Check them out here.

Jane South

I also stopped by Art Space in New Haven this weekend with my friend Kathy. My favorite there was artist Jane South, who makes these complex mechanical-looking sculptures out of cut paper and balsa wood. Amazing.
